​First Aid Procedure

 
The provision of first aid is taken seriously by the school community and is undertaken in consideration of the following points.
  • Emergency treatment is administered.
  • First Aid facilities and equipment is provided and maintained for staff, students and visitors.
  • The school provides regular First Aid training for staff as part of its WPHS provisions.
  • First Aid attendants hold current certification.
  • Health and safety hazards related to accident and near miss incidents are recognized and reported to the WPHS committee.
  • Incident investigations are carried out. Health records are maintained.
  • Medication is administered in accordance with medication procedure.
  • Exclusion regulations for infectious diseases are operative.
  • Parents/caregivers are to inform the school if a student has particular health needs.
First Aid Minor cuts or abrasions are treated at the School Office and parents are notified of serious injuries to children.  In the event of a more serious accident, first aid is rendered and a parent is notified and makes the decisions regarding the treatment of the child.  Should a parent or caregiver be unavailable the school will make decisions based upon the most appropriate care for the child.Where necessary, children are transported by ambulance to the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital.  Any costs incurred for medical treatment arranged by the school are the responsibility of the parent/caregiver.
