Performing arts

Our Lady of the Assumption school prides itself on the opportunities students have to experience various forms of performing arts. Evidence proves that students who learn an instrument and can read music also have strong mathematical skills.

Music

Our very experienced music teacher, Mrs Sharon Farne Sang, exposes all of the students to a variety of instruments and vocal ensembles in a class environment each week. The students may go on to join one of the school choirs and have the opportunity to represent the school at community events. The school also encourages the students to learn an instrument by working in conjunction with a variety of external instrumental teachers who come to the school to teach. These instruments include:

  • Piano
  • Violin
  • Drums
  • Guitar
  • Ukulele
If your child is interested in learning to play one of these or another instruments, please contact the school office for further information.

Drama

Students at an early age learn self-expression, confidence and teamwork through their experiences with Drama. The Prep students learn this through their everyday play and here at OLA, we continue to promote this as the students progress through the year levels.

This may come in the form of class drama lessons and also progress to year-level production presented to the school and wider community.
