Placement of Children in Class Groups

Placement of Children in Class Groups Procedure

The placement of children in class groups is a responsibility taken very seriously by the staff of Our Lady of the Assumption School and is undertaken in consideration of the following criteria:
  • most appropriate learning environment for the individual child;
  • peer relationship placement appropriate to the individual's learning needs;
  • most effective use of school resources (human and physical);
  • balance of boys and girls across the class group, according to the ratio of boys to girls at each year level; and
  • balance of learning styles and individual's learning needs.

Students may experience placement in multi-age year level classes at some stage throughout their primary schooling at OLA.

If there is a need for a consultation regarding a child's placement in class, this is to be directed to the principal in writing.

The final responsibility for class groupings rests with the Principal.
