Tuckshop

The tuckshop at Our Lady of the Assumption School is a facility, which supports the learning and teaching environment of the school. The tuckshop is one of the real life experiences of healthy lifestyle choices based at the school. The tuckshop operates in order to provide nourishing food for students and as such supports the work of staff and parents in teaching children about healthy food choices. The provision of a tuckshop service is one taken seriously by our school community and is undertaken in consideration of the following points.

The tuckshop:

  • Promotes the selection of healthy food and drink choices and the development of healthy eating habits consistent with the Smart Choices Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland Schools (2006).
  • Provides a real-life learning experience in line with the Nutrition Education as outlined in the Health and Physical Education Curriculum.
  • Provides a food service that compliments the objectives of other school health care services such as school dental services.
  • Ensures safe food handling procedures.
  • An annual audit by the BCEC Workplace Health and Safety Officer will occur as an ongoing monitor of standards and practice.
  • Fosters community spirit and support for those who work as volunteers.
  • Periodically reviews the menu at least yearly.

The tuckshop operates on a Wednesday (first break only), Thursday and Friday for lunch and afternoon tea.   Tuckshop orders can be made by using the Flexischools app.
