Defence Community Organisation offers many schools access to a Defence School Mentor (DSM).  OLA has a DSM named Domenica Bohmer who has been in the role since 2022.  

The DSM provides support to children of Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families during transitions into and out of OLA and parental absences due to deployment, exercises and courses.  

The DSM is important for the integration of new Defence Children into the wider school community. There are several activities that Mrs Bohmer runs that enable the children to feel safe, welcome and able to cope with meeting more than just the children in their class.
