Defence Community Organisation offers many schools access to DSM's (Defence School Mentor). OLA has a DSM named Janet Dyer. Mrs Dyer has been in the role since 2005. The DSM's provides support to children of Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families during transitions into and out of OLA and during parental absences due to deployment, exercises and courses. The DSM is important for the integration of new Defence Children into the wider school community. There are a number of activites that Mrs Dyer runs that enable the children to feel safe, welcome and able to cope with meeting more than just the children in their class.
