Support Teacher – Inclusive Education

My name is Eve Brown and I am the Support Teacher – Inclusive Education here at Our Lady of the Assumption. I work here full time and my role is to work in collaborative partnerships to achieve educational outcomes for all students.

I am involved in the following ways:

  •  Together with the class teachers, I discuss concerns with parents (e.g. speech language development, fine and gross motor development, how your child is going/settling in at school, behavioural concerns, as well as specific needs your child may have).
  •  If necessary, I provide parents with names of specialists such as Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Paediatricians and Opticians.
  • I resource teachers and parents.
  •  If required, I assess children’s learning (e.g. phonological awareness, reading and spelling levels and numeracy).
  • I provide support to teachers in meeting the needs of all children, both those with learning difficulties and those requiring extension.
  • I coordinate the timetabling of School Officers within the school.
  • Together with the School Officers, I provide alternative lunchtime activities for children in the Learning Support Room.
As a part of the children’s transition to Prep, I contact and/or visit their Pre-Prep programme to observe and speak with the teachers. This helps us to make your child’s transition to Prep here at OLA as smooth and stress-free as possible.

If you would like to contact me, you can call me on the school number, leave a message at the office or call into the Learning Support Room which is at the Tuckshop end of the Prep building.
